Requirements of System for Downloading and Installing UltraTax CS

Do you want to use UltraTax CS software to handle your tax process? If yes, it’s a must to make sure the system requirements so that the software can run without any interruption. For running it in the Virtual Office CS or SaaS environment, we request you to refer to the Virtual Office CS and SaaS requirements. This is because local workstation requirements get reduced considerably.

Here is a quick look at the system requirements:

Operating System

The operating system should be 32- or 64-bit version of Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 or Windows Vista, etc. Remember if you install CS Professional Suite software, it will not run on Windows 8 RT, a 32-bit edition of Windows 8 for mobile devices.

Processor, RAM & Monitor

Recommended processor is Intel or AMD 64-bit multi-core processor and 4 GB RAM or more. Your monitor should be 17″ or larger with a minimum resolution of 1280×1024 for better results.

Disk Space

For installing UltraTax CS on your system, a space of 2.25 GB for all modules is required. However, an accurate space varies based on installed modules.


Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or 9; 32-bit version. But keep in mind that Microsoft supports only version 11 on Windows 10, 8.1, and 7, and only version 9 on Windows Vista. For more information, please visit the Microsoft’s End of Internet Explorer Support page.

Internet Connection

For downloading the software, installation, or updates, you need to have a broadband or persistent, high-speed internet connection. An uninterrupted, high-speed connection is a must.


Use the Windows which support a printer capable of data compression. A minimum 2MB of memory is required. We suggest you to choose 16 MB of memory. For the purpose of extensive printing requirements, choose high-speed laser printers. It’s also good to enable the duplex printing option for your printer if possible.


Please note down that scanning K-1 and W-2 barcodes requires a barcode scanner, which is connected to your system via a serial connection, or USB connection. It should be capable of decoding two-dimensional (2D) barcodes in PDF417 format.
